That was really interesting. I hadn't encountered many of those ideas before, or at least I hadn't retained them. Shows you what a lit degree is worth these days I guess.

I was particularly struck by the simplicity of the basic dichotomy presented here: every story is either from unity to isolation or v.v. I tried in vain to think of meaningful exceptions.

Also the association of winter with satire struck me as insightful - true - and also as counter intuitive.
