Maybe it's just the work schedules of journalists, or maybe death takes a holiday on weekends. But I've noticed that news of fresh disasters tends to dwindle on Saturday and Sunday, and so does traffic.
In Flublogia, no news really is good news, and business improves when the customers stay away. The sources I consult several times a day are in hibernation. Reuters has had a botched story on its site for two days now, and no one has bothered to fix it. Other news gatherers went home on Friday afternoon to enjoy quality time with their families, and it was the right decision.
I've spent time well wasted on the World Cup this weekend (and on seeing Robert Altman's lovely film A Prairie Home Companion, which I recommend). In a minute I'm going to take the dogs out for yet another walk. Tomorrow I'm in another all-day meeting, so blogging will be scant.
Enjoy the peace and quiet. Go out for a walk on this Sunday evening. Seize the day.
