Bulgaria worries about H5N1

Via News.bg, a Bulgarian news source: Shumen discusses urgent measures against bird flu. The writing isn't very good English, but the message gets through:

Urgent measures for the prevention of the emerging of the avian influenza on the territory of Shumen region, Bulgaria, will discuss the Regional epizootic committee on its session today.

It will be held at 11 am, informs radio Shumen.

The session is called regarding the found sport of avian influenza in Germany and the threat the disease to reach Bulgaria.

The strain of H5N1, which is deadly for the birds, caused the worries of the veterinary doctors in the European Union.

There is already a decision of the European commission for restrictive measures. The regional veterinary-medical service explained that in the region of Shumen there are no companies that import bird products from Germany.

To remind, the regional veterinary-medical service in Silistra is also preparing precaution measures against bird flu because of the case in Germany.
