Culling operation in the bird flu affected areas of Assam has been completed with 408,379 birds being killed and 300 health workers involved in the operation being put on chemoprophylaxis while 32,495 birds have been culled and 214 animal health workers are under chemoprophylaxis in West Bengal.
Containment measures are continuing in both the states and the Centre is monitoring the situation. In Englishbazar block of Malda district in West Bengal the active surveillance in 0-3 Km is continuing while surveillance in 3-10 Km has also started in phases.
As many 328 health workers have been deployed for active surveillance in the block where the disease outbreak was notified on December 15.
The State Govt has adequate stock of ventilators, PPE and Oseltamivir, an official release said here today.It's interesting that the authorities are now reporting the number of cullers and health workers on Oseltamivir or Tamiflu.
