Via the Pakistan Observer: Riaz to lead protest sit-in. Excerpt:
Lahore—Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Raja Riaz Ahmad has announced a protest rally and sit-in against the failure of the government to control Dengue killings at Chief Minister’s Secretariat today (Saturday) at 2pm.
The protest rally against provincial government will start from Punjab Assembly premises and the opposition, Pakistan People Party(PPP) parliamentarians will participate in it, Raja Riaz told the media after presiding over a party’s parliamentary meeting here on Friday.
Raja Riaz informed that the meeting had decided to hold a protest demonstration against the Punjab government’s non-seriousness towards taking mature steps to curb the Dengue mosquitoes which had already killed more than 200 lives of innocent people of the province.
He also warned the Punjab government that his party could make a plan to hold a long-march against the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) rule in the province as it had failed to deliver against the wishes of the masses.
Later, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah responding on the opposition’s announcement said that a ban had been imposed on holding demonstration or rally on The Mall and if they (opposition) would try to hold such sit-in in front of Punjab Chief Minister Secretariat violating the situation, his government would deal with them according to the situation.
Answering queries to the journalists outside the Punjab Assembly, Law Minister said that the opposition had no any reason to launch a protest against the provincial government as it had done all possible steps to control the epidemic in Lahore and other cities.
