This Saturday, the Cuban Civil Defense announced that the remains of a boat was spotted by the Cuban Coast Guard to a hundred meters from Punta de Maisi, located at the eastern end of Cuba.
This sinking resulted in the disappearance of at least 38 Haitian migrants, 21 men and 17 women. The efforts of search and rescue of Cuban forces have so far helped to rescue 87 people, 80 men and seven women, whose four children and are currently receiving care at the international camp of immigrants of Punta Maisi.
The Red Cross and the Coast Guard continued the search and rescue operations n the hope of finding more survivors from the sinking.
