Un grupo de 119 colaboradores de la salud regresó a Cuba, tras culminar con éxito su misión internacionalista durante dos años en Haití.
A group of 119 health workers has returned to Cuba after completing their internationalist mission during two years in Haiti.
En el acto de despedida en Puerto Príncipe, el Jefe de la Misión Médica cubana, Lorenzo Somarraba, destacó el trabajo de los profesionales de esa nación antillana y el mérito de haber engrandecido ante el mundo el nombre de la medicina de su país.
Saying farewell in Port-au-Prince, the Chief of the Cuban Medical Mission, Lorenzo Somarraba, highlighted the work of this country's professionals and the honour of having enhanced the reputation of their country's medicine before the world.
Los cooperantes arribaron a Haití en febrero de 2010, después del mortífero terremoto que afectó a esa vecina nación y enfrentaron el brote de la epidemia del cólera que hasta hoy ha afectado a más de 500 000 haitianos.
The workers arrived in Haiti in February 2010, after the deadly earthquake that affected this neighbour nation, and confronted the outbreak of the cholera epidemic that up to now has sickened over 500,000 Haitians.
Distribuidos en hospitales comunitarios, centros de tratamientos de cólera y en zonas de difícil acceso en los diez departamentos del país, el personal médico cubano siempre asumió la labor asistencial inmediata en momentos de emergencia.
Scattered in community hospitals, cholera treatment centres, and in remote regions in the ten departments of Haiti, the Cuban medical personnel always offered immediate assistance in emergencies.
The question now is whether a new contingent of Cubans will replace them.
