One more person died of dengue in the city on Wednesday, taking the toll to five in Bangalore and 10 in Karnataka.
Shobha Rajkumar, 33, passed away because of dengue. She had been unwell for a week and was taken to Chinmaya Mission Hospital, Indiranagar. After she was diagnosed with dengue, the CMH directed her family to shift her to another hospital. Then she was taken to Axon Hospital at Indiranagar and was kept in ICU.
The hospital authorities said her platelet count was low.
In the backdrop of dengue deaths in the city, health minister Aravinda Limbavali held a meeting of the officials concerned on Thursday. He noted that so far 10 deaths have happened in the state due to dengue and as many as 182 cases of infection were reported across the state.
Officials of health department, BBMP and representatives of private hospitals in the city attended the meeting. A slew of measures was announced to tackle dengue. The heads of organisations agreed to share information on dengue cases to avoid the spreading of false news, which creates panic among people. BBMP commissioner MK Shankarlinge Gowda slammed the attitude of blaming the BBMP for everything.
