Twenty one patients with dengue fever have been found in Mae Hong Son province since July 8.
Health workers of Chiang Mai Municipality also are patrolling and hurriedly insecticide-fogging communities throughout the city that may be breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
There have been no reports of fatalities so far and the greatest number of Dengue fever cases was reported in Pai and Mae Sarieng districts.
Furthermore, 400 cases of malaria have been reported, along with one death attributed to this disease in Pangmapha district.
With mosquitoes being the diseases’ carriers, officials are advising people to destroy the insect’s breeding grounds.
Health officials are also hitting areas with insecticide that may be mosquito breeding grounds throughout the province.
Dr Paisarn Thanyawinitchakul, the chief of Mae Hong Son Public Health Office, added that the Mae Hong Son Health Centre is asking the public to cooperate in eradicating the mosquito breeding grounds.
