Via El Universal, a report from Efe: Venezuela commissions 20 military doctors to fight cholera outbreak in Cuba.
The Venezuelan government has entrusted 20 army doctors with the task of "aiding" Cuban health authorities following a cholera outbreak to the eastern part of the island.
The Venezuelan Ministry of Health specified in a communiqué that the doctors belong to Battalion 51, deployed in Barcelona, the capital city of eastern Anzoátegui state. There, at the "Luis Razetti" Hospital, suspected samples of cholera from around the country are tested. To date, the disease has not reached Venezuela, Efe noted.
The local Epidemiology Administration, like in the rest of Venezuela, "has reinforced surveillance in ports and airports," the press release added.
Epidemiologist Danilo Finol, of "Luis Razetti" Hospital, urged Venezuelans to take the appropriate steps and "a lot of care when eating seafood."
