We passed through Quebec City on the 13th, and I must have been too jet-lagged to spot this September 14 report in
The Montreal Gazette:
Three more cases of Legionnaires’ disease confirmed in Quebec City. Excerpt:
No sooner had the capital regional health services department claimed the Legionnaires’ disease threat over, three more cases were confirmed on Friday.
All cooling towers on Quebec City buildings had been cleaned and disinfected by the deadline of Aug. 29, and it was felt that would bring an end to the problems that many believe started in those bodies of water.
The incubation period thought to be between two and 10 days could be longer, health officials said on Friday in announcing the three new cases.
All three first showed signs of illness before or just after the decontamination, but were only officially declared Legionnaires’ disease on Friday.
These three last cases bring the total to 180 confirmed cases with 13 deaths since the air-borne bacterial disease was first detected in Quebec City in mid-July.
