18 persons detected with dengue virus in Bhograi. Excerpt:
Panic gripped Bhograi block in Baleswar district after detection of dengue virus in as many as 18 patients out of 21 blood samples of the suspected persons sent to the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack for test.
All the identified cases belong to Nimatpur gram panchayat of Bhograi block.
With this, officially there are 21 identified persons afflicted with the vector-borne disease in the district as earlier three persons, including two of Chandneswar, were detected.
While a two-member medical team took stock of the situation after visiting the affected villages on Wednesday, 55 more blood samples were collected for test in Cuttack.
The number of dengue-affected cases could be more as besides Nimatpur and Chandaneswar, the disease is feared to have spread to the gram panchayats of Sankhari, Tukurhajira, Brabatia, Gopinathpur, Huguli and Kakhada of Bhograi block.
Local BDO Pranay Jena with the help of Asha, Anaganwadi and NGO members and VLWs is taking measures of cleaning the affected areas and carrying out an awareness drive to combat the viral fever.
The patients who have been identified are under treatment and their conditions are improving.
