Tres niños murieron antenoche de dengue en el hospital Materno Infantil San Lorenzo de Los Mina, mientras los principales centros asistenciales de Santo Domingo están abarrotados de infantes con la enfermedad, informó el Colegio Médico Dominicano.
Three children died two nights ago from dengue in the San Lorenzo de Los Mina Maternal-Child Hospital, while the major health centres in Santo Domingo are crowded with children with the disease, the Dominican Medical College has said.
Mientras el director del hospital Luis Eduardo Aybar, doctor Julio Rodríguez Grullón, señaló que en ese centro asistencial hay 17 infantes internados, así como 20 atendidos de manera ambulatoria con la enfermedad.
Dr. Julio Rodríguez Grullón, director of the Luis Eduardo Aybar Hospital, said that his centre has 17 child patients as well as 20 outpatients with the disease.
Precisó que en el área de Pediatría no hay dónde colocar a los niños que llegan con dengue, no solamente del Distrito Nacional y la provincia Santo Domingo, si no de todo el país.
He said that in the pediatric wards they don't know where to put the children arriving with dengue, not just in the National District and Santo Domingo province, but all over the country.
If dengue is this bad in the Dominican Republic, it must be at least as bad in Haiti. But I've heard nothing about cases there.
