Via Hablemos Press:
[Reporter for Hablemos Press in his fourth day of a hunger strike] Excerpt, with my translation:
Independent journalist Calixto Martínez Arias, reporter for the Hablemos Press Information Centre, is in the fourth day of a hunger strike.
Martínez Arias, arrested on September 16, was transferred on November 10 from the Valle Grande jail to the East Combined Unit, both prisons situated in municipalities of Havana.
Martínez Arias pretty well broke the
news of cholera in Santiago last summer, and followed up with more reports on cholera and dengue. He was
arrested after reporting the loss of considerable quantities of medical supplies provided by WHO. Others who reported on outbreaks haven't said anything recently. Since his arrest two months ago, Hablemos Press has reported little except government actions against the dissident movement. So we have very little information on Cuba's current public-health situation.
