MEDIA UPDATE: HEALTH FACILITY STATUS.
Around 90 per cent of sub-divisional health facilities in the 4 divisional health areas by tomorrow afternoon will complete rapid assessment of their facilities and a comprehensive report will be provided afterwards.
Hundred per cent of health facilities at all health tiers (Divisional and Sub divisional Hospitals, health centres, and Nursing stations) are operational today and will be able to resume full service from tommorrow.
Other health facilities, particularly those located along the TC Evans path, have sustained minor damages to the physical infrastructure that require some repair before full service can be provided.
Eighty per cent of health facilities have been confirmed to be well stocked with their vital consumables and drugs.
The remaining 20 per cent are yet to be ascertained from health facilities and this will be done today.
Navua Hospital’s general outpatient department (GOPD) is operating out of Matanitobua House until further notice.
All health facilities within the Suva subdivision will open from 8am to 4.30pm until full power and water restoration.
Nausori Health Centre has been relocated to Navunivivi Hill.
ILLNESSES AND DEATHS RELATED TO TC EVAN
No deaths related to TC Evan have been recorded.
EVACUATION CENTRE ASSESSMENT
Designated staff from the various sub -divisional hospitals are currently assessing the health status and needs of the population residing in the evacuation centres, food status, especially of the young, utilities, supplies, space, illneses, general sanitation, environmental sanitation.
A consolidated medical report of the evacuation centres should be made available this afternoon.
