The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a cluster of three cases of drug-resistant infection, affecting three Stanley boarding school students.
Aged 13 to 15, the boys have fallen ill since October 14.
They were admitted to hospital and tested positive for Community-associated Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus. One has been discharged, and the other two are stable.
The centre's staff have inspected the school and advised it conduct a thorough disinfection. Its other students have been screened.
