Lahore - Anti-dengue day was observed across the province on Sunday to create awareness among citizens about the dengue virus and to motivate them to keep their surroundings clean for the elimination of such fatal virus from the country.
Different government/semi government departments, colleges, schools and hospitals not only remained open but also arranged awareness walks with holding seminars in different cities of the province including the provincial capital.
CDGL: In this regard, the City District Government Lahore organised an anti dengue walk. The walk was headed by District Coordination Officer Noorul Amin Mengal, Advisor to CM Kh Salman Rafiq and MPA Ajasam Sharif. Officer and officials of CDGL and a large number of citizens, belonging to different walks of life participated in the walk.
Participants were holding banners, and placards, urging people to be ready to fight against dengue mosquito and its larva and to keep their surrounding clean. The participants committed that they would participate in anti-dengue campaign actively and would cooperate with the CDGL in this regard till the elimination of the dengue.
On the occasion, the DCO said the CDGL with its all town administrations were fully ready to combat with dengue and entire machinery was functional in this regard. Dengue spray would be started in all towns of the City soon, he added. He said that all towns had completed registration process of junkyards and tyre shops and he too appealed the citizens to keep clean their houses, streets and mohallas and drain out stagnant water wherever they found.
Advisor to CM Kh Salman Rafiq said the Punjab chief minister was doing his best to eradicate dengue from Punjab and the services of the Punjab government were admired on international level.
TOWNS: The CDGL, DGBT and Ravi Town arranged a dengue awareness seminar at Town Hall. Besides the DCO and Kh Salman Rafiq, Advisor to CM for dengue Dr Waseem, Saeed Riaz, and MPA Ajasam Sharif also addressed the participants of the walk.
EPD: Meanwhile, Environment Protection Department (EPD) Punjab organised an awareness walk from Liberty Roundabout to Main Boulevard to observe the Anti-Dengue day here on Sunday.
