Acholi Times, an appalling February 11 report:
Nodding Disease Claims More Children In Gulu District. I don't often check this source because I can't excerpt its reports, but it covers nodding syndrome much more than the national Uganda media. But take the time to click through. The report says 15 children in Aromo Wang Lobo Primary School have died with nodding syndrome in the last six months.
Of the school's 532 pupils, 241 have nodding syndrome—45 percent. Some pupils, and teachers, are leaving the school out of fear of infection; only six teachers are left for those 532 kids.
Just imagine this happening in a school in your community. What would you think of your government, and your media, if they put any other problem at the top of their agenda?
