But it's not just about Beijing; the site offers air pollution counts for major cities all over China. (Fallows shows a report on Tangshan that will make your windpipe tie a knot in itself.)
On the Asia Unbound blog at the Council on Foreign Relations website, a recent post cites a public health expert as saying China's air pollution is "worse than SARS because nobody can escape it." It goes on to say that only 1 percent of China's 560 million urban residents breathe air that's safe by EU standards.
So I'm putting Beijing AQI on the Hot Zone Sources list.
