Via The Portugal News Online: Dengue outbreak in Madeira controlled.
The number of cases of dengue fever detected on the island of Madeira has fallen to residual numbers, the health department said earlier this week, considering that the outbreak was controlled.
The number of cases has been falling since mid-November no cases had been confirmed by laboratory tests since 4 February.
A total of 2,168 cases of dengue were diagnosed since the outbreak first appeared last year and has been blamed for a slump in tourism from northern Europe, especially following advice distributed by German tourist operators to prospective clients.
