According to the communication made at the cabinet meeting this Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, the plague, killing 32 people in five (5) regions, namely Sofia, Analanjirofo Vatovavy Fitovinany Bongolava and Matsiatra Ambony. Five (5) districts are mostly affected.
43 suspected cases of pneumonic plague and bubonic plague were detected Mandritsara since 20 November until 5 December 2013. 17 suspected cases of pneumonic plague were detected Analanjirofo. 15 cases of bubonic plague have been recorded in the district of Ikongo. In the district of Tsiroanomandidy, 3 cases of bubonic plague have been suspected.
In these districts, inadequate inputs required the support of Central and Regional levels with lowering a building team. This is not really the case where Ikalamavony District 5 suspected cases of bubonic plague have been detected, but where inputs locally is sufficient and did not require any support.
In all districts, the response consists of free care for the sick, the preventive treatment of persons who have been in contact with the reported cases, disinfestation / disinfection of houses, epidemiological investigation, surveillance of contacts and community outreach.
