I should have picked this up when Dr. Richner posted it on his Facebook page on February 3:
Again and again: a child suffering from Bird Flu (H5N1) in one of our 5 Hospitals.
Being hospitalized during two days in a private clinic in Kampong Tom Province the mother has brought the child in a somnolent state with high fever and difficulties to breath to Jayavarman VII (Kantha Bopha III) in Siem Reap -Angkor.
We find a severe Pneumonia of the right lung and the MRI is showing most severe Encephalitis. The stem of the brain is most infected. The Institute Pasteur confirmed our clinical Diagnosis Bird Flu (H5N1). In 2013 we hospitalized 19 cases of Bird Flu. It is a tragedy that it is starting again in January 2014.
In 2013 we could save 8 children suffering from Bird Flu. But not because of the drug “Tamiflu” as it was told by WHO. The application of Tamiflu to severe cases is coming too late. “Tamiflu” could have only any effect in people in good health being exposed to a focus of Bird Flu. But even this idea is still in discussion.
