Via Shanghai Daily: More pigs in river. The complete report:
More dead pigs have been found in the Huangpu River reigniting water pollution fears among locals, the city government said.
In March of last year, about 10,000 dead pigs were fished out of the river after being dumped in Jiaxing in neighboring Zhejiang Province. According to the Jiaxing government, a total of 70,000 pigs died due to poor management and extreme weather at the start of last year.
On March 30 last year, I posted an item about the 11,257 pig carcasses that had been retrieved from the Huangpu near Shanghai. By then I'd been posting pig stories for several weeks in March.
The next morning, on March 31, China reported the first three cases (and two deaths) from H7N9.
I'm probably being superstitious, but this new report of dead pigs does not bode well.
