Two people have tested positive with H5N1, otherwise known as bird flu, in Damanhour and Damietta on Friday, the Health Ministry said.
A 56-year-old woman in Beheira's Damanhour, and a 4-year-old child in Damietta, who are in critical condition, have been transferred to ICU and administered Tamiflu treatment.
These two patients are the first bird flu cases to be discovered since April 2013.
Egypt has been struggling to contain an outbreak of swine flu since December, and since then had announced any findings related to the bird flu.
