To see what's going on in Ukraine, the best source is Kyiv Post. If you read Russia or use Chrome's automatic translation function, Krimskaya Pravda is reporting from the Crimea. In Russia, good old Pravda in English is delivering its slant on events.
I would not trust any of these sources to deliver an objective account of events, but at least they show us what the participants are saying and thinking.
Among outside sources, take a look at Finland's news service Yle Uutiset (in English). The Finns understand the Russians pretty well, and Finland ranks #1 in the world in press freedom. Russia ranks #148, according to the Press Freedom Index 2013. Ukraine ranks #126.
