Via Science News.org, a very slick interactive feature: Second wave of bird flu ups pandemic worries. Run your cursor over the table and map and learn a great deal.
One notable feature of the table is that it show the periods when live markets were shut down—periods followed by sharp drops in numbers of cases.
And this brings up the equally notable absence of recent H7N9 news reports. The last CHP report, on three new cases, was on March 9. The last report from the Guangdong Health and Family Planning Commission was on March 8. WHO posted an item today, about a case reported on March 7. Xinhua's search function is temporarily down, but when I checked earlier today its most recent H7N9 story was dated March 8.
It's far too early to declare victory, but even a temporary ceasefire is welcome.
