Via Saudi Gazette: Latest coronavirus victim: Bonhomie at Saudi weddings.
The deadly Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) coronavirus has affected the general bonhomie at wedding parties in the Kingdom where pecks on the cheek, hugs and handshakes are common courtesies.
An invitation for a wedding in the city of Tabuk carried a handwritten request from the mother of the groom, politely asking wedding guests that handshakes, hugs and pecks on the cheek will not be allowed during the ceremony.
The woman even followed up with telephone calls to the guests to ask “whether they accepted her terms.”
And on the evening of the wedding, she made sure that medical masks were distributed to guests entering the hall.
What about the bride and groom?
