On 5 May WHO declared that the spread of wild-type poliovirus in 2014 constitutes a Public Health Emergency of International Concern in accordance with the International Health Regulations, and issued some Temporary Recommendations.
This Rapid Risk Assessment examines the implications of these for EU Member States, and assesses whether the developments leading up to the declaration represent an increased risk of poliovirus importation to the European Union.
