Via The Peninsula: SCH staff trained in MERS preparedness.
DOHA: Some half-a-dozen experts from the World Health Organisation recently held a training workshop for 25 staffers of the Supreme Health Council (SCH) to enable them to mount raids on government and private healthcare facilities in the country to check their preparedness to deal with communicable diseases (read MERS), such as having isolation rooms and other medical requirements, local Arabic daily Al Raya reported yesterday.
Saudi Arabia has reported 133 deaths out of 473 MERS cases since September 2012. The SCH has scotched rumours that fresh MERS cases have been reported in Qatar. No case has been reported since last November, said the SCH. If there is any case the SCH would immediately make it public. “We will be fully transparent about it,” the Council said.
