Breaking news Breaking news ....The Minister of Health and Sanitation, Miatta Kargbo has confirmed that Dr Khan, Physician in charge of the Lassa program and all viral haemorrhagic fevers, including Ebola at the Kenema Government hospital has been diagnosed and confirmed positive of the Ebola virus.
She described him as a national hero not only for the great sacrifices he has made during the Ebola outbreak but also due to the fact that he is among a handful of renowned experts in treating viral haemorrhagic fever in the world.
"He made the ultimate sacrifice by putting his own life on the line to treat and save Sierra Leoneans of the Ebola virus. Dr Khan treated and discharged more than 100 Sierra Leoneans of the deadly Ebola virus. By going into that treatment Center and spending more than 12 hours daily just to save lives is a tremendous sacrifice. I will do anything and everything in my power to ensure he survives," Miatta Kargbo said almost in tears.
The minister called on all Sierra Leoneans to remember Dr Khan in their thoughts and prayers. The doctor is now on his way to the MSF treatment Center in Kailahun for treatment.
