Via Saudi Gazette: Dialysis patients complain of negligence at Jeddah center. While MERS cases have dropped sharply, the underlying problems in infection control seem to have persisted. Excerpt:
Patients suffering from renal disorders have complained of deteriorating dialysis equipment and unhygienic conditions at Jeddah's dialysis center.
Abu Fahad, a kidney patient, said the center has reduced dialysis times from four to three hours.
He added many patients have transportation problem and that the filters in the dialysis machines are of the worst quality, forcing many patients to buy them from their own pocket.
Abu Rayyan, a dialysis patient, said there is only one nurse available for every five patients, adversely affecting the quality of the service offered to patients.
He added that due to lack of parking space, many patients have to park two kilometers away from the center.
Abu Ayman, a 10-year-old kidney failure patient, claimed patients have to buy their own medicine because many of the prescribed medications are not available in the center.
