Via Politico SL News: MP weeps over Ebola deaths.
Member of Parliament for Constituency 002 in Kailahun District broke down in tears on Tuesday whilst contributing to discussions about the Ebola outbreak in the well of parliament.
Mustapha Brima was specifically addressing Mayah Kaikai following his approval as Minister of State East.
Mr Brima observed that the Ebola fight would be the minister’s first challenge adding that the disease was killing people on a daily basis both in his constituency and at the Kenema government hospital. He pointed out to the “poor care and attention given to Ebola patients” saying: “when you visit the Ebola wards in Kenema you will find patients lying in their own urine”.
The MP said the challenges at the Kenema hospital was great and suggested to the minister that his first three strides should be to work towards helping his people out of the menace, adding that another challenge was the fact that most people had still not accepted that Ebola was real.
Brima said he was almost beaten up in his own constituency some days back when he went with other stakeholders to talk about the virus as they told him outright that they would listen to any other information except those about Ebola.
