The president said the event would take place between Aug. 24 and 25. Wali said the fears of contracting Ebola disease would give life to the rumour that the event would not hold.
According to him, NBA has purchased non-contact laser guns for temperature monitoring and screening of participants at the conference. He said the association had also purchased hand bacterial and viral sanitisers, hand gloves, mask, and other materials to protect participants from the risk of Ebola virus infection.
Wali said beside measures already put in place, the association would continue to sensitise the participants to avoid handshakes and physical body contact. “Everybody is concerned about Ebola and it is up to all of us to be very responsible. We must improve our personal hygiene “In view of this the Nigerian Bar Association has put in place a standing dispensing non-contact hand sanitisers in select public places with refills as well as other measures ahead of the conference in Owerri,” he said.
He further said the Owerri branch of NBA had secured collaboration with the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), to provide ambulances and other medical equipment and personnel.
The president also pointed out that measures had been put in place to ensure that participants did not gather at the same venue at the same time to ensure their safety. Meanwhile, Imo Government has also assured participants that it had put in place measures such to ensure their safety.
