Ebola outbreak update: As of today, 11 August 2014, we have a total of 181 patients who have survived Ebola Virus Disease and subsequently discharged. The total number of new confirmed cases is 10: Kailahun 2, Kenema 4; Bo 1 and Port Loko 3.
The total number of cumulative number of death is 254 and cumulative number of confirmed cases is 683 with Kailahun 376, Kenema 235; Kono 1; Kambia 1; Bombali 6; Tonkolili 1; Port Loko 20; Pujehun 3; Bo 22; Moyamba 4; Bonthe 1; Western Area Urban 11; Western Area Rural 1. As of today, Koinadugu district is the only district that has not registered confirmed cases of Ebola in Sierra Leone.
The cumulative number of probable cases is 37 and probable deaths 34 while the total cumulative number of suspected cases is 39 and suspected death is 5.
A plane load of equipment and medical consumables has arrived at the Lungi International Airport from the People’s Republic of China. The items on board the cargo plane are additional donations from the Chinese government to the Government and the People of Sierra Leone in the fight against the Ebola disease. The Chinese Government in the early stages of the outbreak donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Health Ministry as their initial response in helping the Government of Sierra Leone fight against this deadly disease.
The Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Health and Sanitation has today disbursed additional funds to all the thirteen District Health Management Teams (DHMTs), thirteen District Hospitals and the three Treatment Centers amounting to Seven billion, nine hundred and sixty-nine million, two hundred thousand and fifteen Leones (7, 969, 200,015) for implementation of various activities relating to the containment of Ebola in their respective districts. The funds are to finance activities for training, staff incentives, contact tracing and surveillance activities, among others.
