Ebola outbreak update: As of today, 20 August 2014, we have a total of 225 patients who have survived Ebola Virus Disease and subsequently discharged. The total number of new confirmed cases for today is 9: Kailahun 3, Kenema 2; Bo 2; and Western Area 2.
12 of the Pending results from 17th and 18th also came in Positive: Kenema 3, Bombali 3; Port Loko 3; Moyamba 2 and Western Area 1
The total number of cumulative confirmed deaths is 320 and cumulative number of confirmed cases is 804 with Kailahun 409, Kenema 285; Kono 1; Kambia 1; Bombali 10; Tonkolili 2; Port Loko 31; Pujehun 3; Bo 26; Moyamba 8; Bonthe 1; Western Area Urban 22; Western Area Rural 5.
Koinadugu district still remains the only district that has not registered confirmed cases of Ebola in Sierra Leone.
The cumulative number of probable cases is 40 and probable deaths 34 while the total cumulative number of suspected cases is 66 and suspected deaths is 5.
The laboratory team from Center for Disease Control (CDC) is now in Kenema setting up the laboratory equipment, testing using the new lab is expected to commence on Friday August 22, 2014. The World Health Organization (WHO) laboratory team from South Africa is now at Lakka, setting up the components of the lab that have arrived in country.
