So extremely sad to report the death of a dear brother and friend, the Kailahun Local Councillor Emmanuel Tamba Sakilla of Ward 10 in the Kissi Teng chiefdom. I last spoke to him yesterday as he was boarding the ambulance in Koindu heading for the MSF Ebola Treatment Center where he passed away this morning at around 10:30am.
He had been ill for the past five days treating himself for Malaria. He was a trained paramedic/nurse. Apparently, an old man fell off a motorbike some three weeks back and Sakilla had treated his pains. The death of a policeman (the old man's son) yesterday from Ebola, spurred Sakilla to go get himself tested for Ebola as well; especially as though he was without a fever, his malaise condition had been deteriorating.
He tested positive for Ebola on arrival, completely deteriorated through the night and died this morning.
