Fifty-four medical personnel of the RSLAF medical unit are among the 750 military personnel being deployed to support the Ministry of Health and Sanitation and the Sierra Leone Police in the fight against the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).
The Commanding Officer of the medical unit, Colonel Dr Foday Sahr says the nurses will not work at the epicentres but will be deployed with the troops to attend to suspected Ebola cases and to provide safety precautions to the troops in Ebola locations.
On Friday, 1st August 2014, the RSLAF commenced the deployment of 750 troops in Kailahun and Kenema districts following HE the President and Commander-in-Chief's proclamation of the Public Health Emergency.
