Via Awareness Times: 1,000 Cases Upline 77 Cases in Capital: As CDC Director warns President!! Excerpt:
The Director of the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC),Dr. Tom Frieden has on Friday August 29th 2014 at State House, sternly advised His Excellency the President of Sierra Leone that President Koroma needs to act fast and implement certain changes before it is too late to save his citizens. Dr. Frieden was shown on SLBC Television as he firmly warned the country only has “hours and not days” within which the President should take adequate steps to stem the ravaging Ebola virus transmission.
Further, Dr. Frieden has now very publicly predicted to President Koroma that Freetown will follow suit of Monrovia if the President did not act fast.
Later, speaking to journalists in video shown around the world, the CDC boss had an implicit message that the situation might become “a catastrophe”.
“There is time to avoid a catastrophe but only if immediate and urgent action is taken at every level,” Tom Frieden said. He said speedy actions to reverse the fast growing rate of Ebola infection all over Sierra Leone, should be taken or else it will be “too late”.
Within hours of the public warning from CDC boss, President Koroma sacked his Health Minister and re-organised leadership of the fight against Ebola.
Meanwhile, according to a release issued last night from the Health Ministry, the capital city environs (Western Area Urban & Rural) now have laboratory confirmed cases totalling 77 cases whilst Provinces (Upline) have now recorded huge whopping number of exactly 1,000 laboratory cases.
