Via The Davis Enterprise: KVIE broadcast looks at valley fever. Excerpt:
KVIE public television will take a compelling look into the growing problem of valley fever in California and other Western states with a broadcast of “Deadly Dust — Valley Fever in the West,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, on Channel 6. The fungal disease affects 150,000 people each year, but remains little-known and often misdiagnosed.
The show features interviews with researchers, doctors and survivors. The directors of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health — Tom Frieden and Francis Collins, respectively — will discuss new research underway to better understand this mysterious soil-borne disease.
A free premiere screening open to the public is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at KVIE Studios, 2300 W. El Camino Ave. in Sacramento. Hors d’oeuvres will be served at 5:30 p.m., followed by the 30-minute screening.
