Great article. Very thought-provoking. Although you said little about the definition of 'satire', you did make a very critical point about it being self-directed that struck me forcibly. The realization that came to me with your article is it seems that when satire is self-directed it defaults to funny, appreciable, ethical, and even, if highly exaggerated or irrational, all that good satire is meant to be. That's my quick take at the moment.
