Carol asks:
Please refresh my memory regarding the punctuation of the abbreviation P. S. (post scriptum). Is it followed by a comma, colon, hyphen? I can't remember!
Usage varies. Some people drop all punctuation after the abbreviation, and many use a comma. A few may use a dash—not a hyphen—which gives the postscript some dramatic flair. My preference is for a colon.
p.s.: You can also write it with lower-case letters.
Formerly the abbreviation for postscript was always written in lower case letters and each letter was followed by a full stop, thus, p.s.

Formerly, p.s. was never followed by further punctuation which would have been regarded as redundant. The postscript itself always started with a capital letter.
