Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has directed the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and localities to step up efforts to curb the spread of bird flu.
The Prime Minister has ordered that all new-born poultry be vaccinated, and also suggested complete vaccination for poultry at hatching centres.
He requested MARD to conduct research and propose short-term and long-term solutions to control the disease.
A new outbreak of bird flu in the central province of Ha Tinh this week has raised the number of bird flu hit provinces across the nation to 17, according to an announcement made by the Viet Nam Animal Health Department on Wednesday.
