I am so old that I can remember when Google was just one of scores of search engines, all vying for users. Now, of course, life without Google would be an empty mockery.
But today I heard about a new search engine, Cuil, which is out to compete with Google.
This blog could hardly function without Google, but here's what Cuil offers when you type in h5n1.
Four million hits isn't bad, and of course I'm flattered that this blog turns up where it does. More interesting to me, though, is that Cuil also invites you to search by topics like Influenza and Pandemics. It also invites search with terms like "H5N1 Influenza" and "Social effects of H5N1."
I hope you'll spend some time exploring Cuil and then let me know where it's working and where it's not.
