According to officials, mosquito larvae have already been found in several locations throughout the county, including areas that were treated. This work continues through September and into October "if conditions dictate," D'Elia said.
"We have two new spraying machines added to our arsenal that are going to be deployed in our constant battle with the mosquitoes found to be causing a nuisance and a health hazard," D'Elia said.
"West Nile virus is still out there, as we did have one confirmed human case last year in Union County."
In addition, the county spokesperson said that two cases of Dengue fever have been reported in the county's last Communicable Disease Report along with six cases of Malaria. Dengue is caused by a virustransmitted by mosquitoes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. D'Elia said travel history is not included in the report, so these cases could have been infected outside the county.
