DINDIGUL/MADURAI: As many as 17 persons have tested positive for the deadly dengue virus in Dindigul district and were admitted to the government hospital there.
Dindigul District Collector N Venkatachalam has made arrangements for a special ward exclusively to treat dengue cases at the government hospitals in Dindigul and Palani.
Soon after the news broke on Monday, he held a review meeting with the representatives of local bodies and the health officials and ordered them to clean up the water stagnation and carry out fogging in all residential areas regularly.
He urged people to use mosquito repellent creams, coils and mosquito nets. Patients with fever should approach the government hospital and test themselves for dengue, he added.
Meanwhile, the influx of patients suffering from dengue fever into the Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) in Madurai has seen a decrease of late with no cases reported in the past three days.
Health officials in Madurai said that no dengue cases reported in the entire district in the past three days.
