Via allAfrica.com, a report from The New Vision: Uganda: Nodding Victims to Receive More Food. Excerpt:
People affected by the nodding syndrome in the Acholi sub-region will receive more food from the Government.
This comes after the multi-sectoral national committee on the nodding syndrome visited the region and discovered that the patients were getting less rations than recommended.
The committee consists of six Cabinet ministers.
The patients and non-sick members of the affected families will now get 4kg of posho and 1kg of beans every fortnight, up from 10kg of posho and 3kg of beans for the entire family.
State minister for ethics and integrity the Rev. Fr. Simon Lokodo expressed shock that local leaders complained of food rotting yet nodding disease victims were getting small rations.
I'm new to nodding disease, which has been a problem for years. But the more I learn about it, the more horrifying it seems.
