Via the Hong Kong government website: Woman treated for Shiga toxin. Excerpt:
The Centre for Health Protection is investigating a confirmed case of Shiga toxin-producing E.coli infection involving a 75-year-old woman.
She fell ill on June 2 and was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital on June 7, and discharged on June 11.
She tested positive for Shiga toxin-producing E.coli. She has no recent travel history and her home contacts are asymptomatic.
Most strains of E.coli are harmless but Shiga toxin-producing E.coli can produce powerful toxins and cause severe food-borne disease.
