Via the Daily Star: Brazil's cocaine baron is caught after catching Zika. Excerpt:
Notorious Laio Estevao da Silva, 28, was left weak as a pussycat thanks to the potentially killer virus — allowing police to arrest him without a fight.
Da Silva is believed to run a cocaine emporium employing 300 in one of the poorest slums in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Along with his brother Eduardo, the gangster had a bounty over his head in connection with a catalogue of brutal bank hold-ups and gangland murders.
He was charged with masterminding a hit-and-run on a police base in the slum last year spraying bullets across a cop car in Breaking Bad style.
He has been on the run since, but it appears that a bite from a mosquito may have caused his downfall.
The kingpin contacted a private doctor to treat him at home after falling ill but none wanted to step foot in the dangerous slum.
Desperate, he left for treatment in his girlfriend's home, which is when cops pounced.
Police chief Hilton Alonso said his illness meant he was unable to put up a fight and allowed the cops to arrest him with ease.
