It's 7:00 a.m. Monday in Stockholm, where we still are. Just a few minutes before we were to leave yesterday, my wife felt very unwell and collapsed in a ladies' room near our departure date. This caused the rapid arrival of a team of paramedics and security people, followed by a rapid trip from Arlanda in a bright-green ambulance back into Stockholm.
We spent Sunday afternoon in a quiet, relaxed emergency department while my wife underwent blood tests and numerous ECGs. They never did find anything to explain her sudden transient drop in blood pressure, and around 4:00 we left the hospital and caught a cab back to Arlanda. There we retrieved our luggage and after some difficulty arranged a new trip home via Iceland; we leave (I hope!) early this afternoon.
So I won't be posting much if at all until sometime Tuesday. The moral of this story: don't buy overseas medical insurance without also buying trip insurance. Your need for the former will almost certainly mean your need for the latter.
