Via Radio Sweden: First case of Corona virus in Sweden confirmed. Undramatic Swedish competence in all involved makes this almost a non-story:
The first confirmed case of the Corona virus in Sweden has been detected, the Swedish Public Health Agency said on Friday afternoon.
A woman in Jönköping county tested positive for the virus after experiencing respiratory problems upon returning from a trip to the affected Wuhan region of China on January 24th.
In a statement the Swedish Public Health Agency said the risk of the infection spreading in Sweden is currently very low.
Update: At a press conference Friday evening Malin Bengnér, a doctor at the hospital, says the woman had no symptoms when leaving China, and when she came back to Sweden she kept herself away from others and didn't meet anyone, as she was aware of the viral outbreak and knew what to do. When she started to get a cough she called the medical authorities straight way and was brought in for tests.
They say that they don't think there is any risk of the virus having been passed on in Sweden in this case.
Karin Tegmark Wisell from Public Health Agency of Sweden says, "she did the right thing". The patient is not seriously ill, and is doing well, she added.
